4 Provinces Issued Invitations from May 5 to 12

4 provinces issued invitations from May 5 to 12 in the latest round of published draw results, which were namely Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Prince Edward Island.

On May 10, the Provincial Nominee Program-Only-Express Entry draw was held and these draws are in addition to that draw. 589 PNP candidates received Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in that draw and a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 691 was required. In the year 2023, this was the fourth PNP-only Express Entry draw.

In 1998, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was established so that suitable economic immigrants can be attracted to various provinces. Economic immigrants are those who can integrate easily into the labour force and establish themselves economically within a province.

Provincial Nominee Programs helped spread the benefits of immigration throughout Canada otherwise it would have remained within a few urban centers. All Canadian provinces have PNP, except for Nunavut and Quebec.

Provincial Immigration Results May 5-12

Ontario

5,196 candidates were invited by Ontario in the past week over 4 draws. Under the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities stream, 1,863 candidates were invited by the province on May 5, in a targeted draw for tech occupations. A CRS score in the range of 475-482 was needed by the candidates.

On May 8, 2,349 candidates were invited by the candidates in a draw targeting healthcare occupations. These candidates were also in the Express Entry Human Capitals Priorities stream and they required a minimum CRS score of 427.

Two draws were also held on May 9. The first draw was under Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. In both health and tech occupations, 584 candidates were invited by the province. A score of 62 or higher is required by all the candidates.

400 candidates were invited in the second draw from the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream, which was also held on May 9. The minimum cut-off score required by candidates is 43. Candidates only received invitations if they had job offers in targeted skilled trades occupations and their country of residence is Canada.

Quebec

To apply for permanent selection under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program, 802 candidates were invited by Quebec. 571 was the cut-off score that was required by each candidate. The draw was held on May 1 and the results were posted on May 4.

Candidates were targeted by the province with a variety of National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes and job offers outside the territory of Communaut’e me’tropolitaine de Montre’al.

Candidates must still apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) even after being successful in obtaining a Quebec Selection Certificate if they wish to become permanent residents.

British Columbia

More than 150 candidates were invited in 4 targeted draws for the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams of BC PNP also on May 9. Express Entry Canada candidates were also included in the draw.

In the largest draw with tech occupations, 93 candidates were targeted with a minimum score of 90 in the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). The SIRS for BC PNP is similar to the CRS scores in Express Entry.

23 candidates in healthcare occupations, 34 childhood educators, and less than five candidates in other priority occupations were targeted by the remaining three draws. Candidates required a minimum SIRS score of 60 in each draw.

Prince Edward Island

On May 4, 122 candidates were invited under the Labour and Express Entry streams of the PEI PNP, in a small draw held by Prince Edward Island.
