The Fourteenth Express Entry Draw of 2023 Held in the First Week of June

The Fourteenth Express Entry draw of 2023 held in first week of June, which was an all-program draw, and 4,800 candidates were invited by IRCC.

A minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 486 was required by the candidates. This recent draw of June has followed the most recent draw on 24 May in which 4,800 candidates were invited.

It was an all-program draw with a minimum CRS score of 488.

This score is still higher than the all-program draw of April 26 which had the requirement of a minimum CRS score of 483.

Category-Based Selection Draws are Announced by IRCC

A news release has been issued by IRCC on May 31 which stated that the six new category-based selection criteria have been established by the department for Express Entry candidates.

Candidates with specific attributes were targeted by the new categories that support the economic goals of Canada.

Five category-based selection criteria are for those who have work experience in the fields of transport, healthcare, agriculture and agri-food, science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professions, and trades such as carpenters, plumbers, and contractors.

The final new category is for candidates who can speak French proficiently. The department has not provided an exact date but it expects to begin holding category-based draws this summer. Candidates must be in the Express Entry pool if they hope to receive an ITA in the targeted draws.

Express Entry Canada candidates who meet the category requirements will still be ranked by IRCC and the candidates with high scores will still be issued ITAs. All program draws and program-specific draws will be continued to be held by IRCC as needed.

Express Entry in 2023

Over 13 draws in 2023, 49,948 candidates have been invited by IRCC, excluding the recent draw. It is significantly much more than the number of candidates invited between July-November in 2022. Following a pause related to the COVID-19 pandemic, until July 2022, no all-program draw was held by IRCC.

In May, there were two Express Entry draws. The first one was a Provincial Nominee Program Only draw which took place on May 10 for 589 candidates. The candidates nominated by a provincial government were already in the Express Entry pool.

These two draws held in April were very identical. In both draws, 3500 candidates were invited and both were all-program draws. A CRS score of 346 was required by the candidates in the April 12 draw, and a CRS score of 483 was required in the April 26 draw.

In terms of the number of draws and number of candidates, March was a remarkable month. A total of 21,667 candidates were invited by the four draws. 7,000 draws were invited in each draw. Three of the four draws were all-program draws. The remaining draw was a PNP-only draw in which 667 candidates were invited.

Four draws were also held in the month of February, each draw was program specific with three draws for Provincial Nominee Program candidates and the fourth for the candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker Program. January had two all-program draws and 5,500 candidates were invited in both draws.Canada Immigration News will provide you with more updates regarding Express Entry draws very soon.
