Agriculture and agri-food sector includes farm supervisors, agricultural service contractors, and retail and wholesale butchers.

Nearly $ 92.8 billion in agriculture and food products were exported by Canada’s agriculture and agri-food industry globally in 2022. This draw was the third Express Entry draw of the week. 500 French-speaking candidates Were Invited in the Latest Express Entry Draw with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 472 yesterday, September 27.

IRCC Held Latest All-Program Express Entry Draw on September 26 in which 3000 candidates were invited with a minimum CRS score of 504.

What is Category-Based Selection?

IRCC announced in May this year, that it would begin holding some draws for Express Entry candidates based on one specific attribute rather than their overall CRS score.

Following a change to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) in 2022, the introduction of categories was expected to take place this year that authorizes the immigration minister to select Express Entry candidates who are likely to contribute to Canada’s economy and promote the French language outside of Quebec.

Six new categories were created for in-demand occupations and newcomers with strong French language abilities to that end. The five occupation-based categories are transport, trades, healthcare, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) professions, and agriculture and agri-food.

Draws were held by IRCC in each of these categories since the first category-based draw for healthcare workers on June 28. Candidates who are in the Express Entry pool and meet a minimum CRS score can immigrate to Canada through category-based selection.

What is Express Entry?

There are three major programs to immigrate to Canada, namely, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) which are managed by the application management system known as the Express Entry.

A Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) is used by each of these programs to evaluate and rank candidates according to specific human capital factors such as occupation, work experience, age, education, and language ability. Invitations to apply in an upcoming Express Entry draw will most likely be received by the candidates who obtain the highest overall scores.Canada Immigration News will bring you all the interesting updates regarding the latest Express Entry draws, check out our blogs to keep yourself updated!
