Candidates were invited by 5 Provinces from November 16 to December 1

Candidates were invited by 5 provinces from November 16 to December 1, namely Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Manitoba, and PEI.

Except for Nunavut and Quebec, all provinces and territories have Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP), and these programs permit provincial governments to nominate the candidates best suited for integration into the provincial economy. The application of a candidate for permanent residency is made much stronger by a provincial nomination.

IRCC shares the responsibility for immigration with the provincial governments. Minister Marc Miller met with his provincial counterparts so that he could discuss the priorities of shared immigration. To provide IRCC information on how to use immigration as an effective tool to promote the economic well-being of the Canadian provinces, these meetings are held two times a year.
