Importance of Francophone Immigration to Canada

Some of the recent initiatives by the Government of Canada to increase Francophone and bilingual immigration outside Quebec include:

  • The goal is to raise Francophone immigration outside of Quebec to 7 per cent in 2025 and eventually up to 8 per cent in 2026, from 6 per cent in 2024.
  • Facilitate the pathway for Francophone students who wish to come to study outside of Quebec and then settle in Francophone minority communities with a direct pathway to immigration towards permanent residency.
  • Expansion to 14 communities outside Quebec Supports settlement and integration of Francophone newcomers through collaboration with local communities in order to facilitate ease of integration into the life in Canada.
