Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released fresh Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in its latest Express Entry draw.
This round is reported as 1,800 ITAs issued to candidates in the trade occupations with a minimum CRS score of 433. This is the first one targeting the trade occupations since July 4 when an equivalent number of invitations were issued with the minimum CRS score a bit higher at 436. It is also the first non-French category-based draw since July 5.
There were several Express Entry draws this week. On 22nd October, the officials issued an invitation to 400 candidates who applied under the Canadian Experience Class. The cut-off is set at CRS score 539. Prior to that, there was a PNP draw on October 21. In that, 648 candidates with a minimum CRS of 791 are invited.
A recent trend by IRCC has been to host several draws every two weeks, sometimes including both PNP and CEC-specific draws. This continues a strategy by the IRCC to increase the selection of candidates already residing and working in Canada on a temporary basis. IRCC aims to bridge the gap between determined immigration targets in the Immigration Levels Plan.
Immigration Levels Plan 2025-2027, which will come out by 1 November, will define the target for the future.
For 2024, Canada aims to admit 110,770 new permanent residents; it remains to be seen if that target is met.
Individuals who received their ITAs in the final quarter of this year are likely to immigrate in 2025, given IRCC’s general six-month process period following the submission of Express Entry applications.

Express Entry is Canada’s new application system to handle applications from the three key economic programs: FSWP, CEC, and FSTP. Based on CRS, all candidates get ranked. Ranking takes into account age, education, work experience, and language proficiency, among other factors.
The higher the score for a person in the CRS, the greater the likelihood of obtaining an ITA. In the PNP draws, scores are much higher because there is already an additional 600 points given to the provincial nominee. Additionally, an applicant may also have extra points if an applicant has a family here, or they apply with a spouse and partner. The top-ranked applicants are highly likely to receive an ITA in the next draws, therefore making them very strong candidates to receive permanent residency in Canada.
