1828 candidates were invited by 4 provinces this week in the most recently published Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw results.
The most prominent economic immigration pathway to Canada is Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). 117,500 new permanent residents will be welcomed by Canada through the PNP each year by the end of 2025, according to the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has the final say on who becomes a permanent resident but PNP still exists because immigration is a shared responsibility between the federal and provincial governments.
With the help of PNPs, the provinces are also able to target gaps in the provincial labour force by selecting the newcomers they feel have the best chance to establish themselves financially in a province. The PNP is seen as a beneficial tool to strengthen the economy of Canada by both Federal and Provincial Governments, this is Why Provincial Nomination Programs Exist.
The number of candidates a province can nominate changes each year. 105,000 is the overall target of PNP candidates for 2023. Among the 11 provinces and territories that have PNP programs, the number of spots is divided later on. 16,500 nominations have been allocated to Ontario in 2023. Newfoundland and Labrador have been allocated 3,050 nominations which is double the nominations it had in 2022.
539 Letters of Advice to Apply were issued by the province under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) on May 4. There are overall three streams for which draws will take place.
252 candidates with a score of at least 606 were invited under the Skilled Worker stream under the occupation-specific draw. Many candidates were invited from the major groups. 70 candidates were invited from middle management occupations in trades and transportation, 12 candidates were invited from administrative and financial supervisors, and specialized administrative occupations, and 22 candidates were invited to middle management occupations like trade and transportation.
A Letter of Advice to Apply was received by 199 additional Skilled Workers in a non-occupation-specific draw. 650 was the minimum score required by these candidates. 49 candidates were invited through the Skilled Workers Overseas stream and 39 candidates were invited through the International Education Stream with the minimum score of 699.
More than 171 candidates were invited through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program on May 2. Candidates were invited through three targeted and one general draw.
Candidates from the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams were invited to apply at the cut-off scores of 104 and 107 respectively in the general draw. If the candidates in the Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled streams had a minimum score of 85, they would have also been invited.
A minimum cut-off of 60 is required by all three targeted draws. 16 candidates were invited for healthcare occupations, 22 were invited in a draw for early childhood educators and assistants, and less than five from other priority occupations. Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled candidates were not included in the targeted draws.
New Brunswick typically invites candidates throughout the month and then publishes all the results at the same time. 86 candidates were invited through the Express Entry stream of the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program in April. High CRS Scores in Express Entry are required so that provinces can select you from the pool.
27 candidates were in the NB Student Connection, 45 were in the NB Employment Connection and 14 were from the NB Occupations in Demand Connection.
Those who have received the invitation, have 45 days to submit a complete application. Later on, candidates will have 30 days to accept the nomination in their Federal Express Entry account, if approved for nomination by the province.
On May 3, 1032 candidates were invited by Saskatchewan in two separate draws. A major chunk, 739 candidates were invited through the Express Entry stream of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).
Through the Occupations-In-Demand stream, the remaining 293 candidates were invited. A minimum score of 68 and an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is required by the candidates in both streams. Throughout 2023, the draw by this province has always been held once a month. In mid-April, 5 Provinces Invited Candidates in PNP Draws in a week and Saskatchewan was one of them.Canada Immigration News will update you regarding the upcoming PNP draws very soon.
