700 Candidates Were Invited by IRCC in an All Program Express Entry Draw

700 candidates were invited by IRCC in an all program Express Entry draw in which a minimum CRS score of 511 was required.

It was a surprise draw as 1,500 healthcare workers were to be invited by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on July 5. In addition, New Selection Categories are Announced for Express Entry Candidates. Candidates with work experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations are also expected to be invited by IRCC in the first-ever category-based selection Express Entry draw.

What will be the minimum CRS score required for STEM and healthcare candidates is yet to be seen. IRCC held the first-ever Express Entry category-based draw on June 28 last week in which 500 healthcare workers were invited with a minimum CRS score of 476. STEM professions are to be invited to a category-based Express Entry round this week as announced by IRCC.

The current CRS score of 511 is the highest cut-off score of any all-program draw of 2023. There were 4,300 candidates invited with a minimum CRS score of 486 in the last all-program draw of June 27, this cut-off score is significantly higher than that.

Category–Based Draws

There is a new type of Express Entry draw aiming to invite candidates within specific occupational fields or those who have other in-demand attributes, known as category-based selection draws.

Candidates may be eligible for six new categories which are namely transport, healthcare, agriculture and agri-food, trades such as carepenters, plumbers, and contractors, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) professions, and strong French-language proficiency.

Because of the changes made to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act in June 2022, category-based selection draws were made possible. Economic immigrants are invited by the immigration minister on the basis of a specific attribute that aligns with the economic priorities of Canada or will promote the French language outside of Quebec.

What will be the factors to Achieve High CRS Scores in Express Entry or whether CRS scores will be relevant or not, is yet to be seen.Canada Immigration News will provide you with more details about upcoming Express Entry and PNP draws, and the modifications done in the Express Entry system.
