Alberta’s Latest Processing Updates as British Columbia and Manitoba Conduct Immigration Draws

This week, immigration draws were held by the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), while the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) provided key updates on its provincial immigration streams.

Provincial Immigration Updates (Sep 27 to Oct 4):

British Columbia:

On October 2, the BCPNP held two immigration draws: one general draw and another for in-demand sectors. In the general draw, 81 candidates were invited across various immigration streams. 

The cut-off scores for these streams were as follows:

  • International Graduate: The cut-off score was set at 128.
  • Skilled Worker: Candidates required a minimum score of 128.
  • Entry Level & Semi-Skilled: The cut-off score for this category was 110

The second draw targeted candidates with professional experience in high-demand sectors within British Columbia’s labor market. The second draw details with draw type, minimum score requirement and number of invitations were issued: 

  • Childcare: The minimum score was 83, and 35 invitations were issued.
  • Healthcare: Candidates needed a minimum score of 99, with 28 invitations sent.
  • Construction: The minimum score required was 89, and 23 invitations were issued.
  • Veterinary Care: Candidates required a score of 80, with fewer than 5 invitations sent.

Manitoba:

On September 27, the MPNP conducted two immigration draws. The first was under the International Education Stream, with 269 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) issued. The second draw, under the Skilled Worker Overseas Stream, saw 79 candidates invited through a “Strategic Recruitment Initiative.” The minimum score for this stream was 582. Of the 348 candidates invited across both streams, 56 had a valid Express Entry profile and job seeker validation code.

Alberta:

The AAIP released updates on the current status of their immigration streams, detailing the number of nominations issued, remaining nomination spaces, and processing timelines. The total number of nominations issued so far in 2024 is 8,023, with 4,440 nomination spaces still available. A closer look at different streams reveals how applications are being processed:
