4 provinces issued invitations for provincial immigration which namely are Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, and Manitoba.
A lot of economic immigration permanent residents of Canada arrive here through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Over 117,500 new PNP permanent residents are to be targeted by the Canadian government to arrive in Canada each year by 2025 as per the immigration levels plan 2023-2025.
Rather than having the majority of immigrants settle in a few of Canada’s urban centers, as was seen before the establishment of the Provincial Nominee Program in 1998, the economic benefits of immigration throughout the country can be spread with the help of PNP.
Under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), Alberta published three separate draw results this week, all candidates were also in the pool of Express Entry.
On April 20, the first draw took place with a minimum score ranging from 300-500, which targeted 152 candidates with a primary occupation in demand and family connection in Alberta. On April 24, 124 candidates were invited in a draw targeting the priority sector – construction occupation with an Alberta job offer. 301 was the lowest CRS score.
1020 candidates were invited from the Quebec Skilled Worker Program to apply for permanent selection on April 2020. All candidates having valid job offers outside the territory of the Communaut’e me’tropolitaine de Montre’al had CRS scores equal to or greater than 598.
Candidates who are successful in obtaining a Quebec Selection Certificate must still apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residence, even after Quebec having total autonomy over its selection of economic immigrants.
British Columbia invited a total of 168 candidates on April 25, in three targeted draws. Under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), the minimum cut-off scores must be met by the candidates in BC PNP. SIRS is similar to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of Express Entry in many ways but it is only for those candidates who have an intention to get a provincial nomination from British Columbia.
All candidates including Express Entry candidates were invited in this week’s draw, those who were under the Skilled Worker or International Graduate stream. 113 candidates with a tech occupation and with minimum SIRS scores of 90 were targeted by the largest draw. 28 candidates were invited by the second draw with occupations that fall under Childcare: Early childhood educators and assistants with a minimum score of 60.
With a minimum score of 60, 27 candidates in healthcare occupations were invited to the third draw.
In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), 558 candidates were invited by Manitoba who needed a score of 616 to be eligible.
