Five candidates invited candidates in the latest PNP draws, which namely were, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Manitoba, and PEI.
Immigration is treated as a shared responsibility between the federal and provincial governments. Selecting economic immigration candidates who are best suited to fulfill the labour shortage and economic needs of a province is very crucial, which is Why Provincial Nominee Programs Exist. Candidates may have the specific skill set or work experience to fulfill the economic needs of a particular province.
Agriculture, healthcare, and tech are the major sectors for which the candidates are targeted by the most PNPs because these sectors are experiencing major labour shortages. A similar approach is adopted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently, on a federal level, and has started holding category-based selection draws for Express Entry draws.
For example, the first 500 Express Entry candidates were invited by IRCC based on their healthcare occupations on June 28. On July 5, 1500 more candidates are expected to be invited alongside a draw for candidates in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) occupations the same week.
There is a separate agreement of Quebec with the federal government because of which it does not have its own Provincial Nomination Program (PNP). Quebec recently proposed challenges to its criteria for provincial immigration. It is required by the province that all newcomers arrive in the province with strong French-speaking abilities.
Impacted by the ongoing unrest, 49 people were invited by Manitoba under a special measure for Ukrainians. Candidates who received invitations must still be eligible under Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) for the Skilled Workers Overseas pathway
There are some other specific criteria as well which are mentioned below:
CUAET holders working for at least six months in Manitoba in any occupation may be eligible to apply to the MPNP under the skilled worker in Manitoba pathway as stated by the province.
Typically, draws are held by the British Columbia province every week on Tuesdays. More than 180 BC PNP candidates had been invited on June 27 over four draws.
The largest draw was a general draw in which tech occupations were included. From the International Graduate, Skilled Worker, Entry Level, and Semi-Skilled streams, 130 candidates were invited. The range of minimum Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) score is from 106 for Skilled Workers to 109 for International Graduates. SIRS score is 87 for Entry-level and Semi-Skilled candidates.
Skilled Workers and International Graduates were targeted by the remaining three draws, including Express Entry candidates. 20 candidates were invited as healthcare professionals, 30 candidates were invited as early childhood educators and assistants, and less than five were invited in other priority occupations.
Under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), results were published for 3 draws this week. The draws were held between June 20 and June 22.
68 notifications of interest (NOIs) were sent by the province to candidates in the Priority Sector – Construction occupation with Alberta job offer stream in the June 20 draw. 301 was the lowest eligible Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
19 NOIs were issued to candidates on 21 June in the Designated Healthcare pathway, Alberta job offer. 318 was the CRS cut-off score. In the family connection and primary occupation in demand, 125 NOIs were sent to the candidates with a cut-off CRS score of 306 on June 22. Candidates in this stream must have family already living in the province such as parents, spouses, or siblings and they must have work experience in occupation –in demand.
1,006 skilled workers were invited by the Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration to apply for permanent selection in Quebec on June 22. A minimum score of 626 is required by the candidate. According to the Quebec scale of French proficiency levels for adult immigrants, candidates who were invited had a level 7 oral proficiency (or higher) in French.
90 candidates were invited by Prince Edward Island on June 29 to apply under its Labour and Express Entry categories. PEI tends to hold draws focusing on candidates with a local job offer or who graduated from a PEI institution, as well as candidates in the Express Entry pool approximately every two weeks.Canada Immigration News will bring you a lot more updates on the upcoming PNP and Express Entry draws very soon.
