Provincial Nomination Invitations Issued by Manitoba and Alberta
Manitoba and Alberta have recently held important Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draws, making significant strides in their immigration processes for the year.
Manitoba
On January 9, Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) carried out draws under two different streams: Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas.
In the first draw, 145 candidates were invited through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream. The lowest-ranked candidate had a score of 838. To be eligible, candidates or their spouses must have completed post-secondary education in Manitoba.
The second draw was under the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, with a specific focus on candidates from the Winkler area. This round saw 52 candidates receiving invitations, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a score of 615.
Overall, Manitoba issued 197 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA), including 52 to candidates who had a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.
Alberta
Alberta’s Provincial Nominee Program (AAIP) held a draw on December 23, 2024, under the Alberta Opportunity Stream. This draw targeted individuals who met essential criteria for immigration.
A total of 588 invitations were issued, with the lowest-ranked candidate invited having a score of 55. To be eligible, applicants needed to meet the following requirements:
- A valid eligible work permit (excluding Post-Graduation Work Permits) valid until December 31, 2025, or later
- At least a high school education equivalent to Canadian standards
- A Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) level 4 or higher
- A minimum of 12 months of work experience in Alberta
- A full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation, excluding those in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) categories ‘1 – Business, finance, and administration occupations’ and ‘6 – Sales and service occupations’
Both draws reflect ongoing efforts to attract skilled workers and address regional labor market needs in these provinces.
