Three Provinces Invited Candidates from September 30 to October 5

Three provinces invited candidates from September 30 to October 5, namely, British Columbia, Alberta, and Prince Edward Island.

Established in 1998, the Provincial Nominee Program exists to help provincial governments select the economic immigration candidates who are the most likely to settle within a nominating province and contribute to the local labour force and economy.

Immigration is a shared responsibility between the provincial and federal governments which is why provinces can do this. Candidates who have accepted a provincial nomination must still apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) separately for permanent resident status but being nominated by a province is highly advantageous when it comes to approval of a permanent resident application.

If a PNP candidate is also in the federal Express Entry pool, an additional 600 points can be earned if the Express Entry candidate is also accepted and approved for a provincial nomination. It is a process known as enhanced nomination.

These additional 600 points guarantee that an Invitation to Apply (ITA) will be received by an Express Entry candidate in an upcoming round of invitations. The minimum CRS score has never been higher than 791, to receive an ITA so far in 2023. The minimum CRS score, however, is typically less than this.

British Columbia

Each week in separate draws, candidates are generally invited by British Columbia under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program. 110 candidates were invited by the candidates on October 4 in a general draw which means no specific occupations were targeted.

Depending on the candidate’s program stream, the minimum score to receive an invitation varied. The candidates from the International Graduate stream needed a score of 113, the candidates from the Skilled Worker stream needed to score of 111, and a score of 91 is required by Semi-Skilled candidates.

For candidates in the Skilled Worker and International Graduate stream, there were three additional draws. In all three draws, candidates required a minimum score of 60. 51 early childhood educators and assistants, 25 healthcare professionals, and less than five other priority occupations were invited.

Alberta
