Two Provinces Issued Invitations in the Latest PNP Draw

Two provinces issued invitations in the latest PNP draw, namely British Columbia and Prince Edward Island.

Federal Governments and Provincial Governments both share the responsibility of immigration. They see PNP as an efficient method for choosing candidates who can fulfill the mandate of the immigration minister to welcome newcomers capable of contributing to the economy of Canada.

Economic immigration candidates are selected by various provinces who may integrate easily into the labour market and have a positive impact on the economy of the country. This process makes it easy for immigrants to settle in a province.

It is more likely for an Express Entry candidate to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) if they receive the provincial nomination. This is because additional 600 points will automatically be received in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) by the Express Entry candidates in the PNP.

For permanent residence in upcoming Express Entry draws, candidates with higher CRS scores are more likely to receive an invitation. In the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025, provincial nominee programs have the largest target for permanent residence admissions. Over 105,000 PNP candidates are expected to be welcomed under the plan in 2023, the count will rise to 117,000 per year by the end of 2025.

Provincial Immigration Results March 25-31

British Columbia

On March 30, more than 211 candidates were invited by British Columbia under the BC PNP. Draws are typically held by the province weekly. 165 candidates were invited in a targeted draw for tech occupations, among the candidates from the Skilled Worker, International Graduate stream (including EEBC option). Under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS), which works much like the Comprehensive Ranking System, candidates require a minimum score of 65.

Candidates from the below-mentioned occupations are also invited to the provinces:

  • 23 healthcare Workers from the International Graduate, Skilled Worker, including Express Entry category with a minimum of 60 points.
  • 23 early childhood educators and assistants with cut-off score of 60 points.
  • Other priority occupations with a minimum of 60 points.

Prince Edward Island

Under the PEI PNP labour and Express Entry stream, 113 candidates were also invited by Prince Edward Island on March 30.

It was the third draw in the march for PEI which is unusual for the province as it typically holds draws once a month. Candidates from PEI’s business work permit entrepreneur stream were not included in this draw. It is the second draw in March to do that which is very unusual for a province, as it always nearly includes candidates from this stream in each draw. It occurred last time in December 2022.
